death penalty in the U.S.A

By definition death penalty is when a goverment or a state executes someone because he or she commited a capital crime also called a capital offense, since June 11 2020 death penalty is only allowed in 28 US states this is because death penalty has been proven to not be effective because death penalty doesnt deter crime more effectively than long terms imprisonment and states that have death penalty laws do not have lower murder rates or crime rates than states without this laws; another bad side of death penalty is that its actually expensier than normal incarceration, death penalty costs around $1.26 million dollars mean while normal incarceration costs $740,000 thousend dollars. According to death penalty information center, 22 people were executed in the U.S.A in 2019, and according to the criminal justice project there are 2,620 people on death row in the U.S.A as of January 1 of 2020. But out of all that has been said the most unfortunate thing of death penalty is that according to Proceedings of the National Academy 4% of people on death row are likely to be innocent and theres no doubt that innocent people have been killed.

Finally I would like to ad that this is a very pollemic topic because it could be considered as justice but it could also be considered as a way of vengance instead of justice but personally is not that im against or in favor its just depending the case, because fortunatelly i havent have to live the murder of a family member or some kind of capital crime being comitted to someone i know but if that was the cause I dont know if I would be able to just forgive the person and be against death penalty but in general I can safely say that its not effective or moral to kill someone because theres the posibility that the person is innocent.
